STEEPED

SENIOR THESIS PROJECT | 2016

In under four months a tea brand, STEEPED, was born, branded and had prototypes created. Exhibited at the 2016 Oakland University Winter Thesis Show.

Summary

THE PROBLEM

I wanted to use my senior thesis as an opportunity to exercise my branding skill under a tight deadline. I noticed that there was a lack of bright, inviting tea packaging in supermarket stores and set out to brand my own line of teas.

THE SOLUTION

STEEPED is a full tea brand with both loose leaf and bagged teas. It is built on bright colors, contrasting patterns, and a general tone of well-being. I used details like a lotus leaf for the logo that matches the lotus leaf tea bag tags and a subtle leaf pattern to lift and lighten the brand.

Responsibilities

Branding

Not only did I have to build a brand from scratch, but I had to expand and control the brand.

Packaging Design

I designed tea packaging from boxes to round containers to tea bag tags that incorporated various elements of the brand identity to form a cohesive collection.

Brand Identification

I developed an entire brand style guide, complete with logo rules, color palette, and more.

While STEEPED is not a real project put into production, it earned a 3.8/4.0 grade.
